Our History

1955

Origins

Mr. Jose Ortolá Montaner, the company's founder, was a musician in a local orchestra called Los Ducgan. Driven by the need to protect his instruments during his numerous trips and performances, he decided to create a small workshop dedicated to the manufacture of instrument cases, together with his wife, Mrs. Amelia Moscardó Montoro.

1965

Moving the small workshop to the facilities of his home with more m3 for the expansion of the company.

1970

Catalogues

Initial product catalogs for presentation to clients and trade fairs, both national and international.

1970
Expansion

Purchase of the facilities of some well-known old melon warehouses in La Pobla del Duc for subsequent relocation and expansion of the team.

1970

International expansion

Attendance at international trade fairs in the sector every year, such as Musikmesse in Germany.

1980

After the death of its founder, the company was renamed ORTOLÁ S.A. and managed by his son, Mr. José Vicente Ortolá Moscardó.


1997

Ortolá SA, with a team of 32 professionals, decided to acquire a 5000m2 warehouse in the same location to increase production with new machinery and develop new products.

1998

Purchase of the injection molding machine to improve the quality and modernization of the product, thus expanding the catalog for a more demanding market, acquiring new customers and a better international positioning. 


2008

Corporate image renewal

The company's corporate image undergoes a major redesign with the incorporation of the third generation, Pau and Lucas Ortolá.

2010
New goals

The company is expanding with the acquisition of another industrial building dedicated to the manufacture of traditional percussion instruments under the 'Gonalca' brand and the manufacture of acoustic drum kits under the 'Santafedrums' brand. These are brands they have been working with for years.

2015

60 years

The celebration of the company's 60th anniversary marked a new stage of renewal and brand revitalization. To commemorate this milestone, several improvements and innovations were implemented, including updated packaging and embroidery on the cases, thus reinforcing the identity and quality of its products.

2015

The company suffered a major setback with the sudden death of its manager, José Vicente Ortolá Moscardó. This event deeply impacted the organization. 

 

2021

The business group is born

The creation of a new brand represented a strategic step in integrating all the brands of the business group into which the company had grown. The company remained true to its origins, continuing the manufacture of cases, gig bags, and other musical accessories, an activity to which the production of percussion instruments was later added. Simultaneously, it expanded its operations to include the distribution of international brands of musical instruments and accessories.

2025
70 anniversary

To mark its 70th anniversary, the company launched a commemorative product line that pays tribute to its entire history. This collection combines current manufacturing and designs of its phone cases with the original fabric that became one of the company's hallmarks in its early days.

25 Anniversary Santafedrums

To celebrate this anniversary, a very special limited-edition drum kit was created, paying homage to their origins. It was a thank you to all the musicians who have accompanied them on this journey, and a promise to continue building instruments that inspire new generations.
